This workshop caters for all... from highly experienced to those quite new to Art ... it offers a lively way into exploring a fascinating diversity of Seed material.
Bring along native Seeds & pods from your local area if you enjoy collecting & there’ll be a guest speaker with local Seed & Plant knowledge too.
Mixed media & paper will be provided. Exercises are designed to guide and prompt wide-ranging experimentation. In no time you'll be immersed & interpreting the world of seeds with ease. Bring a smart-phone/digital camera if possible & journal (visual diary) & we’ll investigate numerous processes for working visually to capture the wonders of seeds, pods and capsules.
You will gain an Artist's view into the world of Seeds, Conservation & Science in a relaxed and enjoyable series of sessions over 2 days that will offer glimpses of fresh ways to work with the unique world of seeds ... allowing you to reflect further on the land where you live & the Seed material waiting there to discover up close in your own time through drawing & painting.
Cost: 2 Days for $200 + $30 materials fee = $230
You’ll need to BRING your own lunch & snacks. You can buy coffee at the cafe near the Golf Club cafe on route into the gardens.
Tea & Biscuits will be available during the workshop.
If you keep Art Materials at home bring a few favourite mixed media items, inks, coloured pencils, brushes, watercolours etc
THINGS TO BRING.
Ask Sophie if you need to check... these are suggested if you can get hold of such items easily. She will send a reminder a week before the workshop so you can find things form home to bring on the day.
+ Journal / visual diary
+ iphone/digital camera
+ scissors, glue, sticky tape, pencil, artline pens
+ seed/pod material if you collect it
+ newspaper, paint tray and plastic water container
+ needle, natural thread, natural weave fabric sample, linen, muslin etc
+ a few favourite mixed media items, inks, coloured pencils, watercolours
+ good quality large sheets of 185gm or 300gm paper if you want to make extra Concertina book

If you already have these things at home its worth selecting a small kit of very special papers, cloth scraps, materials to include in your basket of goodies.
TIP: I'm very keen on using Art Spectrum White Ink in my layered work so if you want to purchase this (ART SHED is good for this ink) to bring to the workshop you will be shown how to make the most of this wonderfully unique product for drawing onto prepared surfaces.
