Autumn 2023 new works were produced at SeedArtLab exploring the theme under the title CONTINUA SERIES.

ANGOURIE
Angourie is a place of magic that exists in real time and in my imagination. As a child my family would visit this quiet coastal spot near the larger, better known coastal town of Yamba at the southern head of the Clarence River. Over decades I've not visited often yet it remains in my thoughts - the pandanus, banksias and casuarinas especially. And the blue and green pools. Various stories inhabit memories. In this artwork a very abstracted pod form appears in the circles and the copper paint is a link to an early fascination of mine... learning to make copper jewellery with my father's help in his workshop. At 14 with his sudden passing my desire to keep on with jewellery went by the wayside. Yet the use of this warm copper paint connects me back somehow, and to earth and a sense of the long now present in that location. Abstraction emphasises form and space - positive and negative space in balance, deeply satisfying as it transcends chronological time and situates me in the continuum of life somehow.
