2025 has been a major year of change for artist Sophie Munns in both her family & studio life. Relocating from Brisbane to the Sunshine Coast, Qld mid-winter and despite it being only an hour north of the city where she's resided and worked since 2009 the move reprsents a new era in several ways. Her beloved mother Olivia, whom the aritst cared for till her passing at age 95, came just after Sophie turned 67, deciding it was high time for a much slower pace.
Her work as an artist continues on ... quietly, slowly, making more time for time in nature, not at the desk painting or on the computer.
When the Homage to the Seed project came to life in 2010, morphing into its next phase at SeedArtLab following a Brisbane relocation late 2013 the artist never imagined she'd still be as deeply inspired to continue the journey exploring Seed Diversity this long... however the project conitiues to deepen and uncover new areas of interest.
And already, come October 2025, there's been some interesting new projects appearing on the horizon.
October 16 to November 16 four of the artist's artworks are included in a wonderful show at the AUSTRALIAN NATIONAL BOTANIC GARDENS in Canberra supporting the ANBG SEED BANK Show on the extraordinary Scientific work carried out there.
In the last year keeping the pace slower and taking longer breaks has been both necessary and a tonic however there will be a return to some well chosen projects and undertakings... and the inks and paints will long be constant companions.
NEWLETTERS [ see sign in page] going back in time cover the unique journey that took the artist to a number of  extraordinary and most unexpected places along the way, forever changing the way she sees the world.
