Look carefully at image 4 to see the original painting that I'd worked on for months on and off ... finally after a really intense rethink & paring away the painting gradually it became the finished piece now known as SEED COLLECTOR'S NOTATIONS which appears here in the form of a LIMITED EDITION PRINT.

At the time this was painted I had spent 4 or 5 residencies in Seedbanks which gave me such an insight into the work carried out by those responsible for research where to find the seeds, work out harvest time, travel to sometimes remote regions and undertake the highly focused task of collecting seeds with strict protocols for conservation value to be adequately maintained. One of the seed-collectors notebooks was filled with jottings ... so this abstract work is hardly an illustration of that intense process yet it is definitely a kind of homage to the work that so many people do and have done, all around the globe, through time, to preserve the genetic inheritance of the seed material of this planet.
