This painting came out of the 2010 Homage to the Seed Residency at Brisbane Botanic Gardens where researching Australian tropical rainforest species was one of the main preoccupations of my project that year.

A species familiar from my childhood on the Clarence River in Northern NSW . . . over years I would often pick up these wonderful pod forms a d draw them so it was no surprise that an abstracted form became such a signature motif before the Seed project.
