One of a set of two original works BANKSIA SEEDS I is a work from an ongoing series of ink drawings produced over years.

The original inspiration for these two works ( only one shown here) came from photographing banksia seeds in 2016 when on residency at PLANTBANK at the Australian Botanic Gardens in SW SYDNEY.

Long intrigued by how illusive Banksia seeds can be ... the artist found that despite coming across different species over the years, noting trees of all shapes & sizes, observing the varied state of growth ... times of flowering and stages of the developing cones... even seeing post fire cones... to see the seeds was a less common experience and one you would have to keep your eye out for.
