WHO:

Whether you’re a highly experienced visual artist keen to think more about the extraordinary world of seeds or in fact quite new to Art-making you'll be offered stimulating, comprehensive ways to explore a fascinating diversity of Seed material, dipping in to rich visual processes and ideas that celebrate seeds in both their biological diversity and potency as a symbol throughout the ages. Bring along examples of native seeds and pods from your local area if you enjoy collecting and a small kit of useful things from home. THere's a list below for this.

WHAT WE WILL GET UP TO:

Mixed media supplies and a range of papers will be put to use in a program of lively exercises designed to guide and prompt wide-ranging experimentation both mornings. Expect to be very busy, try loads of different approaches and spend no time worrying over whether you're getting it right. Its all about using out of the familiar... and getting some new thoughts happening around seeds.

Afternoon sessions will allow time for slowing down to focus on the making of artist books, implementing processes discovered and most enjoyed during busy morning sessions. You'll be encouraged to make 2, even 3 books per afternoon... perhaps exploring an ideas that the seed explorations have generated ... and possibly taking home some of the work that night be more easily finished off later if necessary. Processes like stitching or adding furthering layering to your work can be completed later at your leisure. Individuals work at different paces ... and the weekend is designed to foster diverse responses whilst taking notice of the importance of diversity in nature as in human life.

WHERE: Fowler’s Lane, Bangalow . The hillside venue is an easy 6 min drive from Bangalow ... parking is not a problem... and the venue is well set up for comfort, views, all the necessary facilities plus indoor and outside working spaces. Having visited the site and spent time with the hosts Sophie is delighted to be offered such a suitable working space in the midst of a well cared for biodiverse garden and orchard by people with a genuine deep love of the natural habitat and committment to working towards a more sustainable future.

You’ll be sent a MUD MAP & detailed INFO sheet of all you need to know ahead of the event.
